Welcome to Scotland’s Health and Care Armed Forces Employability platform. Your unique expertise, skills and experience can play a vital role in creating a world-class health and care system in Scotland. We are here to support you to move into a career in Health and Care in Scotland and make this transition as smooth as possible.
Our pathway has five key activity areas, with resources to support you at each stage. You do not need to complete them in order although doing so may give you additional clarity on what is right for you.
The stages are:
- understanding yourself – really getting to know what qualifications along with hard and soft skills you have to offer and what type of work you may get the most fulfilment from
- understanding the Health and Care System in Scotland – an in-depth look at the NHS in Scotland
- understanding the roles that are right for you – this section will take you through what roles and job families there are available, and how these may relate to your skillset
- job seeking support – this will offer help, support, and advice on how to tailor your application to give you the best chance of securing your role within the NHS
- support in role – You will be given information on how you can access support through the Armed Forces Network to ensure you are getting the most out of your new role
While this pathway focuses on employability and securing your next career, we know that this can be an isolated activity. As such we have included resources from other organisations that may be helpful to you. While these are free, you may have to register and set up new accounts to access some of these.
